October 2022 Recap

October was a busy month for the Atlantic Museum of Civilization. We opened our virtual doors on October 1st when the website came online. Since them we have been busy planning the site layout and adding a lot of content to the site. The beginning of the month was mostly organizational, getting the basic site layout organized and planning content.

Education is one of the primary functions of a museum, and so we began by developing the Education section of the website. Visitors can learn the basics about what it takes to run a museum as well as the various scientific fields involved in museum studies. Next visitors can learn about how humans came to be the dominant species on the planet, the behaviors which led to the development of culture, and the the eventual rise of advanced civilizations.

The first three objects are now on display in our exhibits. All part of the Hall of Enigmas, you can learn about the Antikythera Device, the Baghdad Battery and the Phaistos Disc.

Moving into November, the focus will turn to the permanent exhibits with a goal of having a representative sample online before Thanksgiving. Then, the focus in December will be on getting started with original social media content.
